The Role and the team

Fremantle’s Global Insight Department plays a pivotal role in analysing performance metrics, audience behaviours, and content trends. The Data & Analytics team within this department is responsible for developing and maintaining the company’s performance data infrastructure and delivering actionable insights across a wide range of business areas.

We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to support the development and maintenance of our data platforms. This is an entry-level role, ideal for a recent graduate or someone with 1–2 years of experience looking to build a career in data engineering.

You will report to the Analytics Engineer , supporting the creation and maintenance of data pipelines, assisting with data transformation and modelling, and helping improve the reliability and efficiency of our data processes, gaining hands-on experience with real-world data systems and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the collection, transformation, and validation of data from multiple sources
• Assist in building, maintaining, and monitoring data pipelines and workflows
  

• Help prepare and structure datasets for use in analysis and reporting , ensuring data is accurate and accessible
• Troubleshoot data quality issues and support improvements to data reliability
• Support the automation of recurring data processes and the reduction of manual workflows
• Contribute to the documentation of data processes, transformations, and pipeline logic
  

Mandatory Skills / Experience

• Knowledge of SQL and working with structured datasets
• Good understanding of Excel , including functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and IF statements
• Understanding of data transformation and data processing concepts
• Ability to work with and interpret data from multiple sources
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
A passion for TV, storytelling, and how data can transform the business

Preferred Skills / Experience

• Experience with Python or another programming language for data processing
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts , with some experience working with large datasets
• Experience or interest in automating data processes and workflows
• Exposure to data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI or similar)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric , including exposure to Power Apps or Power Automate
• Awareness of AI concepts , with an interest in exploring agent-based automation to enhance data workflows (e.g. chatbots, process improvements)
• Exposure to APIs or external data sources is a plus, but not essential
